THE FORESTERS ARMS GOLF SOCIETY

In the United Kingdom, there are an estimated 1.5 million adult golfers, and, for those of us that have caught the bug, going out onto the course becomes a bit of an addiction. Although, as with many other sports, golfing is always better when played with like-minded people with whom you share common interests. Although many people find that joining a local golf club is the ideal way to enjoy their passion for golf and meet other players, becoming a full-fledged member might not be a perfect fit for every individual.

This year’s Foresters Arms Golf Society tournament is halfway through, and we are having a great time. Three events will still complete the year. On Friday, July 8, at Harefield Place, Uxbridge, is the next one on the agenda. As well as organising their second trip to Spain, they are also planning two rounds of golf in Mijas Los Olivos and Santana during the period of 4-8th May 2023.

A tremendous amount of interest has been expressed in the Foresters Arms Golf Society, and the final numbers will be announced by the end of June. In some cases, some guys are taking the opportunity to make it into a mini-holiday and will stay for the week from the 2nd to the 9th and will add one or two additional games. So far, 16 people have confirmed their attendance. The societies have also gathered a couple of non-golfers that have recently joined.

It is estimated that the Foresters Arms Golf Society has over fifty members, and an average of over 30 players attend the club’s events every week. Anyone wishing to join is more than welcome. Players wanting to play can play at any level of handicap of up to 36. On the other hand, the status for ladies is 48.

It is not too late to start planning for the two events that are taking place on September 2 and October 14. In addition to this, there will be a presentation and party at the pub afterwards, where there will be a DJ and food. As always, the annual champion will be announced at this party. During the last four rounds of the contest, the winner was chosen based on the highest combined total of his best three scores.

Organising the tournaments during the season is the most rewarding aspect of running the Foresters Arms Golf Society and one of the most challenging.
